Don't be afraid to not have promotional items out for the general audience

I had a client ask me earlier this week how they could best use their promotional items in their booth.  I offered this..

Statistically only about 18% of the people walking through the door will be a prospect for your services.  As a result you'll have different groups of interactions at the booth or on the show floor.

There will always be the attendee that's just looking for a freebie rather than your specific product or service.  Don't be afraid to not have promotional items out for the general audience.  If you do, the candy dish or an ultra low cost promotional item like pencils, golf tees, etc are fine.  If an attendee does stop, or better yet, is engaged by you or your booth staff to takes the time to find out what you do and how that applies to their needs,  give them a thank you or treat for the time.  Something inexpensive with a brand imprint is great for this group.  You never know where that pen or other little trinket may end up.  And a good positive attitude will positively reinforce your brand and that visitor becomes and influencer or ambassador of your brand.

More and more exhibitors have been booking meetings at their booth space ahead of the event to allow the attendee to minimize time out of the office and for better use of the reduce floor time many have allotted in the economic challenges of today.  These people should be thanked for their time with a premium promotional item that will be well received - leather binders, premium pen sets, coffee mugs or anything that plays to your presentation or product offering.

We're here to help you with all facets of your event and experiential marketing, not just your booth.  Ask how we can help support your promotions by integrating them into your exhibit design or if you need a hand with something you haven't run into before.  Our experienced staff can help guide you through the maze.
